Patch Now, Pitch Later: Cyber Smarts for Startups

In today’s digital world, startups and SMBs are increasingly prime targets for cyberattacks. From data breaches to costly downtime, the impact can be devastating—not only threatening compliance and investor confidence, but also undermining the trust essential for growth. Strong cybersecurity is no longer optional; it’s a cornerstone of long-term success.

Hosted by Global Tech Partners, Patch Now, Pitch Later: Cyber Smarts for Startups is designed for founders, startups, and scale-ups navigating the dual pressures of growth and resilience. This session will unpack why early-stage companies are targeted, how to reduce risk during critical milestones like product launches and capital raises, and why embedding cyber practices from day one is vital for operational integrity, investor readiness, and grant approvals.

But this event goes beyond cyber hygiene—it explores the nexus of startups and cybersecurity. We’ll discuss not only why protecting IT assets and IP matters for entrepreneurs, but also why cybersecurity itself is one of the most exciting frontiers of innovation. With new threats constantly emerging, and cutting-edge technologies like AI and automation reshaping the landscape, cybersecurity presents unique opportunities for founders and innovators to build, scale, and lead in a fast-growing global market.

The panel discussion will feature two highly experienced speakers with expertise in both startups and cybersecurity.

Preceding the event, Melbourne Connect will be hosting: "Cremorne Connect: VC Rosetta Stone," a discussion to help founders and tech entrepreneurs understand venture capital language and investor feedback. It provides practical tools to interpret responses, recognize genuine interest, and tailor pitches for confident investor conversations.

Following this session, there will be networking drinks and nibbles provided.
