What if education research, community wisdom and innovative practice came together in one place to create meaningful change? This is the vision behind the Melbourne Education Clinic.
This event will introduce the Melbourne Education Clinic, a new initiative from The University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Education, designed to connect research with communities and turn promising ideas into action for children and young people.
The Clinic will support innovative research, accelerate the translation of evidence into practice, and strengthen partnerships across local, national and global communities. It will be a welcoming Learning Commons where researchers, teachers, students, families, community leaders, industry partners and policymakers can collaborate, explore ideas and address the challenges that matter most in education.
The evening will showcase the Clinic’s emerging vision and roadmap through conversation and interactive activities, inviting participants to share perspectives and help shape its development.
Designed for educators, researchers, community members and partners committed to advancing education, this initiative launch provides an opportunity to connect, contribute ideas and support better outcomes for children and young people.

Professor Janet Clinton is an internationally recognised authority in Program Evaluation, Education, and Assessment. She currently holds the position of Academic Director – Strategic Partnerships and is Professor of Evaluation at the University of Melbourne. She previously served as Deputy Dean at the Melbourne Faculty of Education, Director of the Centre for Program Evaluation and The Teacher Effectiveness Research Hub.

Associate Professor Matthew Harrison is an experienced teacher, researcher and digital creator who is an advocate for utilising technology to support social capacity building, belonging and inclusion in education. He has taught in Australia, South Korea and the UK at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Matthew is also a project lead at the University of Melbourne Neurodiversity Project and co-founder of Next Level Collaboration, the first neurodivergent-led social enterprise to spin out of the University of Melbourne.

Marek's award-winning scholarship is focused on Australasian and international early childhood education and education systems more generally in cross-country contexts. His academic work and consultancy focuses on educational policy, philosophy, pedagogy, methodology and curriculum, and draws on his background as a qualified teacher.
