Jingqu Chen

Moderator: Dr Jingqu Chen

Senior Research Fellow, Department of Chemical Engineering, the University of Melbourne

Following her PhD completion, Dr Chen pioneered the development of bioactive nanoparticles capable of integrating the functionality of small molecules, nucleic acids, and proteins. This work established the foundation of her current research program which focuses on understanding how bioactive materials interact with biological systems, including biomolecules, cells, and tissues.

Prof David Nisbet

Professor David Nisbet

Director of the Graeme Clark Institute

David Nisbet is a Professor who is jointly appointed between the Faculty of Engineering and IT and the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. He is the Director of the Graeme Clark Institute and the head of the Laboratory of Advanced Biomaterials. David is passionate about developing novel biomaterials, and particularly about seeing the biomaterials developed for clinical applications.

Dr Rachael Moses

Dr Rachael Moses

Deputy Director (GR & EMCR Development), Graeme Clark Institute

Dr Rachael Moses leads the Tissue Engineering group at Melbourne Dental School, MDHS, with a strong interest in the 3Rs (reduction, replacement, refinement), focusing on developing 3D in vitro chronic wound models. Dr Moses' interests lie in natural compound pharmaceuticals for wound healing, particularly chronic, non-healing wounds, and immunomodulatory responses. Her collaboration with Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, UK, has progressed to human clinical trials.

Dr Rishi Ramani

Dr Rishi Ramani

Dentist, Post-doctoral researcher, and Educator at the Melbourne Dental School

Dr Rishi works across dentistry, data science, and AI. He completed his PhD (2025) on integrating machine learning with in vivo confocal microscopy for early detection of oral potentially malignant disorders and oral cancer. His research spans interoperability, digital health, AI validation and governance, multimodal health data analysis, and responsible clinical deployment of ML.

Dr Qingqing Fan

Dr Qingqing Fan

Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health, the University of Melbourne

Dr Qingqing Fan completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering at UNSW in 2025, where she developed nitric oxide-generating nanomaterials for biomedical applications. Her research expertise spans nitric oxide (NO)-based therapeutics for vascular health and nanoparticle-based targeted delivery to the placenta. Her current work brings these areas together to develop nanotherapeutic strategies for vascular dysfunction and pregnancy complications.

Dr Vincent Crocher

Dr Vincent Crocher

Research Fellow, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Vincent received his Master of Engineering in Embedded systems and his PhD in Robotics from the University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris, France). After a brief time as a research fellow at the University of Wisonsin-Milwaukee (USA) he arrived as a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne. As part of the Human-Robotics Laboratory, he designs and studies robotics systems in physical interaction with humans, primarily to assist with rehabilitation of people after stroke.
