Patient Data and Training AI: The OAIC View

Join the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Ethics (CAIDE) in person or online for a panel discussion of experts from law, computing and health innovation to discuss the recent determination of the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Harrison.ai’s I-Med AI project used de-identified patient scans to train an AI diagnostic tool, Annalise.ai, without directly seeking consent.

After an investigation the OAIC determined there was no breach of the Privacy Act, given the way in which the data was de-identified, along with considerations of contract and governance.
