The Annual Showcase, Melbourne Space Program’s (MSP) flagship event, connects students, researchers, industry, government and the wider community to celebrate the achievements of one of Australia’s most ambitious student-led space organisations. Since 2013, MSP has provided students with the opportunity to design, build and fly real space hardware, while expanding into advanced robotics and community-focused engineering projects.
The Showcase offers a behind-the-scenes look at the work MSP teams have been developing throughout the year, featuring live demonstrations, technical presentations and opportunities to meet the students bringing these projects to life. This year’s event will also include major announcements shaping MSP’s next chapter, reflecting its continued commitment to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting the next generation of Australia’s space and robotics workforce.
Chief Executive Officer at Melbourne Space Program
Jenny helps lead work across ACRUX-2, Humanoid robotics, finances, sponsorships, marketing, and the Animatronics project, where she has worked with Teddy Bear Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital. She is also part of the AASYP Smart Health Futures Youth Roundtable and studies Engineering at the University of Melbourne as a Paterson and National Merit Scholar.
Animatronics Team Lead at Melbourne Space Program
Khang Nguyen guides the development of interactive animal characters designed to support play and comfort for children in hospital settings. His background combines technical project work, creative communication and community outreach, helping the team translate ambitious engineering into experiences that are engaging, accessible and meaningful.
Humanoid Hardware Team lead at Melbourne Space Program
Matthew Ma is a Board Member at Melbourne Space Program. The Humanoid team is building an integrated robotic platform combining mechanical systems, electronics, control and ROS 2. Matthew progressed from Hardware Engineer to Team Lead, developing experience in CAD, control systems and technical leadership.
Software Team lead at Melbourne Space Program
Max Schuran is the Humanoid Software Team Lead at Melbourne Space Program, overseeing the software, AI and ROS 2 systems that coordinate the robot’s perception, decision-making and movement. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne, where his research applies machine learning to improve polygenic risk score prediction for colorectal cancer.
Chief Satellite Engineer and ACRUX-2 Team Lead at Melbourne Space Program
Biho Shin is the ACRUX-2 Team Lead at Melbourne Space Program, supporting the development of MSP’s next 1U CubeSat. The mission is being designed as an in-orbit technology demonstration and imaging platform, with scope for payloads in attitude control, solar-cell testing and advanced optics. Biho studies at the University of Melbourne and coordinates the technical work needed to move ACRUX-2 through prototyping, testing and flight preparation, helping rebuild MSP’s student-led satellite development pipeline.
Chief Executive Officer at Navi Medical Technologies
Alex is a business leader, engineer and company director with experience in technical and management roles in the medical device, aerospace and education industries. Alex is also dedicated to a number of innovative programs delivering impact across global health, innovation and space technology industries. He was a Non-Executive Director of Melbourne Space Program for more than nine years, contributing to the governance of one of Australia’s longest-running student-led space organisations.
Graduate Engineer at LEAP Australia
Priyal Panchal is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from RMIT University with a strong interest in emerging technologies and their role in solving complex engineering challenges. She is part of the Academic Team at LEAP Australia, which supports universities across Australia and New Zealand in advancing engineering education and research through the Ansys software suite.
